Common use
Tastylia Oral Strip is primarily indicated for the treatment of erectile dysfunction (ED) in adult males. Erectile dysfunction is characterized by the consistent or recurrent inability to achieve and/or maintain a penile erection sufficient for satisfactory sexual performance. The medication works by inhibiting the PDE5 enzyme, which is responsible for the degradation of cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP). By increasing cGMP levels in the corpus cavernosum, Tastylia promotes smooth muscle relaxation and facilitates increased blood flow, which is necessary for achieving an erection in response to sexual stimulation. It is not an aphrodisiac and requires sexual arousal to be effective.
Dosage and direction
The recommended starting dose for most patients is one 20mg oral strip. The strip should be placed on the tongue where it will rapidly dissolve. It is not to be chewed or swallowed whole. Administration should occur at least 15-30 minutes prior to anticipated sexual activity. Precautions

- Patients with cardiovascular disease should be evaluated for safety before engaging in sexual activity, as sexual activity carries a potential cardiac risk.
- Use with caution in patients with anatomical deformation of the penis (e.g., angulation, cavernosal fibrosis, or Peyronie’s disease) or conditions that may predispose them to priapism (e.g., sickle cell anemia, multiple myeloma, or leukemia).
- Non-arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy (NAION) has been reported rarely post-dose with PDE5 inhibitors. Patients who experience sudden vision loss in one or both eyes should discontinue use and seek immediate medical attention.
- Sudden decrease or loss of hearing has been reported. Patients who experience these symptoms should discontinue Tastylia and seek prompt medical attention.
- Use with caution in patients with severe renal or hepatic impairment, as dosage adjustment may be necessary.
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to Tadalafil or any of the excipients in the oral strip.
- Concurrent administration of any form of organic nitrates (e.g., nitroglycerin, isosorbide mononitrate or dinitrate) or nitric oxide donors in any form. This combination can lead to a profound and life-threatening drop in blood pressure.
- Concurrent administration with guanylate cyclase stimulators, such as riociguat.
- Patients for whom sexual activity is inadvisable due to underlying cardiovascular status.
Possible side effect
Like all medicines, Tastylia Oral Strip can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. Common side effects are typically mild to moderate and transient. They may include:
- Headache
- Flushing (reddening of the face and neck)
- Indigestion or dyspepsia
- Nasal congestion
- Back pain or myalgia (muscle pain)
- Dizziness Less common side effects include:
- Visual disturbances (e.g., blurred vision, changes in color vision)
- Palpitations
- Nausea
- Priapism (a prolonged and painful erection lasting more than 4 hours; requires immediate medical intervention to prevent permanent tissue damage)
Drug interaction

Overdose
In cases of overdose, standard supportive measures should be adopted. The primary expected hemodynamic effect would be hypotension. Cardiovascular status should be monitored and appropriate management for hypotension instituted (e.g., placing the patient in the supine position with the legs elevated, and if necessary, intravenous fluids). Hemodialysis is not expected to accelerate clearance as Tadalafil is highly protein-bound.
Storage
- Store in the original protective pouch at room temperature (15°C to 30°C or 59°F to 86°F).
