Candid B Lotion is a clinically formulated, dual-action antifungal and anti-inflammatory medication designed for the topical management of fungal skin infections, particularly those complicated by inflammation. It combines the potent antifungal agent Clotrimazole with the corticosteroid Beclomethasone Dipropionate to target both the infectious pathogen and the associated inflammatory response. This comprehensive approach ensures rapid symptomatic relief while effectively eradicating the underlying fungal cause, making it a trusted choice among dermatologists for conditions like candidiasis, tinea infections, and intertrigo.
Features
- Contains 1% w/w Clotrimazole, a broad-spectrum imidazole antifungal
- Contains 0.025% w/w Beclomethasone Dipropionate, a potent corticosteroid
- Delivered in a non-greasy, water-washable lotion base for easy application
- Formulated for optimal skin absorption and minimal residue
- Presented in a 30ml bottle with a controlled dispensing cap
Benefits
- Provides rapid relief from itching, redness, swelling, and discomfort associated with fungal skin infections.
- Effectively eliminates the causative fungal organisms, preventing recurrence when used as directed.
- The anti-inflammatory action reduces the risk of scratching and subsequent secondary bacterial infections.
- The lotion formulation is suitable for hairy areas and larger surface areas, ensuring comfortable application.
- Dual-action therapy simplifies treatment regimens, improving patient compliance and outcomes.
- Helps restore skin integrity and provides a protective barrier to support the healing process.
Common use
Candid B Lotion is primarily indicated for the treatment of cutaneous candidiasis (yeast infections of the skin), tinea corporis (ringworm), tinea cruris (jock itch), and tinea pedis (athlete’s foot). It is also highly effective for managing inflammatory manifestations of these conditions, such as severe pruritus, erythema, and scaling. The product is commonly prescribed for infections occurring in skin folds (intertriginous areas) like the groin, armpits, and under the breasts, where moisture and friction exacerbate both fungal growth and inflammation.
Dosage and direction
A thin layer of Candid B Lotion should be applied gently to cover the affected area and a small portion of the surrounding healthy skin twice daily, in the morning and evening, or as directed by a physician. The area should be thoroughly cleaned and dried before each application. Hands must be washed before and after application to prevent spreading the infection. Treatment should typically be continued for 2 to 4 weeks, even if symptoms improve earlier, to ensure the infection is completely eradicated and to minimize the chance of relapse. Do not cover the area with occlusive dressings unless specifically instructed by a doctor.
Precautions
- For external use only. Avoid contact with the eyes, nostrils, mouth, and other mucous membranes.
- Do not use on open wounds, severely broken skin, or areas with active viral infections (e.g., herpes simplex, chickenpox).
- Use with caution on the face, groin, or axillae, as these areas are more susceptible to corticosteroid side effects like skin thinning.
- If irritation or hypersensitivity develops, discontinue use and consult a healthcare provider.
- This medication should not be used for prolonged periods (beyond 4 weeks) without medical supervision due to the potential for systemic absorption of the corticosteroid.
- Not recommended for use in children under 12 years of age unless advised by a pediatrician.
Contraindications
Candid B Lotion is contraindicated in patients with a known hypersensitivity to Clotrimazole, Beclomethasone Dipropionate, any other imidazole derivatives, corticosteroids, or any of the inactive ingredients in the formulation. Its use is also contraindicated in cases of cutaneous infections caused by organisms not susceptible to clotrimazole (e.g., certain bacteria, viruses) and in untreated primary bacterial skin infections.
Possible side effect
While generally well-tolerated, some patients may experience localized side effects. These can include:
- Burning, stinging, or itching at the application site (usually mild and transient)
- Dryness, peeling, or cracking of the skin
- Erythema (redness) or skin irritation
- Folliculitis (inflammation of hair follicles)
- With prolonged or excessive use, signs of systemic corticosteroid absorption may rarely occur, or local effects like skin atrophy (thinning), striae (stretch marks), telangiectasia (visible blood vessels), and hypopigmentation may develop.
Drug interaction
Formal topical drug interaction studies have not been conducted. However, because systemic absorption of topical corticosteroids can occur, particularly with prolonged use or over large areas, interactions similar to those seen with systemic corticosteroids are theoretically possible. Concurrent use of other topical corticosteroids, either prescription or over-the-counter, on the same area could increase the risk of adverse effects. Inform your doctor about all other medications you are using, including topical products.
Missed dose
If a dose is missed, apply it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for the next scheduled application, skip the missed dose and resume the usual dosing schedule. Do not apply a double dose to compensate for a missed one.
Overdose
Topical application of Candid B Lotion in amounts higher than prescribed is unlikely to lead to acute life-threatening systemic effects. However, prolonged and excessive application over large body surface areas, especially under occlusive dressings, can result in sufficient systemic absorption of the corticosteroid to suppress the HPA axis (Hypothalamic-Pituitary-Adrenal axis), potentially leading to symptoms of hypercorticism such as Cushing’s syndrome, hyperglycemia, and glucosuria. In case of suspected overdose, discontinue the medication and seek medical attention. Treatment is supportive and symptomatic.
Storage
Store Candid B Lotion at room temperature (15°C to 30°C), in a cool, dry place, protected from direct sunlight and heat. Ensure the cap is tightly closed after each use. Keep out of reach of children and pets. Do not freeze. Do not use the product after the expiration date printed on the packaging.

Reviews
- “As a practicing dermatologist for over 15 years, I find Candid B Lotion to be an indispensable part of my armamentarium for inflammatory tinea and candidal intertrigo. The combination provides swift symptomatic relief which greatly improves patient comfort and compliance, leading to better overall treatment success rates.” – Dr. A. Sharma, MD (Dermatology)
- “I had a persistent and intensely itchy rash in my groin area that was diagnosed as a fungal infection. My doctor prescribed Candid B Lotion. The itching subsided significantly within two days, and the redness was gone in a week. The lotion was easy to apply and wasn’t greasy at all. Completed the full course as advised and the infection has not returned.” – R. Kapoor, Patient
- “The dual mechanism of action makes this a highly efficient first-line treatment. The anti-inflammatory component is crucial for breaking the itch-scratch cycle that often perpetuates these dermatoses and leads to lichenification. It’s a well-tolerated formulation with a strong efficacy profile.” – Dr. S. Mehta, Consultant Dermatologist
- “After trying several over-the-counter creams that only provided temporary relief, this prescription lotion finally cleared up my athlete’s foot completely. It took about three weeks of consistent use, but the difference was night and day. No more burning or flaking skin.” – Patient Testimonial
